Type C
(Drained Protection)
Type C waterproofing protection manages water that penetrates the external shell of a structure, by collecting it in a cavity formed between the external wall and an internal lining/wall, directing it to a suitable discharge point, e.g. drains or a sump for removal by gravity drainage or mechanical pumping.
BS: 8102:2022 defines Type C waterproofing as “drained protection” where water leaking through the structure is accepted into voids and air spaces, created by cavity drain membranes that are strategically placed to the inside of the structure, depressurizing the incoming water and safely removing it from the property.
This maintainable basement waterproofing solution is ideal for both new-build basements and refurbishment projects. The system comprises of CodeMark and BBA approved cavity drain membranes, drainage conduits, sump chambers, pumps, and associated control and telemetry systems.
Consideration to compliance with the New Zealand Building Codes, may include performance clauses such as:
Clause B2 Durability: B2.3.1 (a), B 2.3.2 (a)
Clause E2 External Moisture: E2.3.3, E2.3.5, E2.3.7
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: F2.3.1
